Donate Materials to Lee County Libraries

Thank you for considering the library for your donations! The library accepts donations based on our Collection Development Policy. Most of our donations are given to our Friends of the Lee County Libraries to be sold in their on-going book sale at the Main Library. The funds from the sales are in turn dedicated to programs and projects at the library. Please review the list below for acceptable items.

We do not accept donation drop off at the Broadway Branch.

Please bag or box your donations and bring to the circulation desk.

Do not put donations in the book drop or leave outside the library.


What We Accept :

  • Hardcover Fiction & Nonfiction
  • Mass Market Paperbacks
  • Children's Books
  • CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray, & AudioBooks
  • Rare and Collectible Books

What We Do Not Accept :

  • Textbooks, Magazines, Encyclopedias, or Dictionaries
  • VHS or cassette tapes
  • Licensed software programs
  • Heavily worn, dirty, or moldy items
  • Items missing cases, covers, or pages
  • Books with excessive markings or writing

Monetary Gifts to the Library

Lee County Libraries gratefully accepts monetary gifts from library supporters. Gifts may be submitted at the library desk or mailed to the Sanford branch in care of the Library Director.

Memorial and Honor Gifts

Lee County Libraries can be designated for memorial monetary donations in honor of a loved one. The library will send a "thank you" to the individual(s) making the memorial donation. A culmination letter, which will include the names of those donating (unless they wish to remain anonymous), will also be sent to the immediate family.

In Memory

Donations will be accepted without stipulations and become the property of Lee County Libraries. The Library reserves the right to refuse any donation. Donations cannot be returned. All donated material will be placed under consideration according to the same selection criteria as stated in our Collection Development Policy.

Acknowledgements

If you would like a letter of acknowledgement for your donated materials the library will gratefully provide one along with a gift receipt upon request.
